Bad Habits That Are Ruining Your Skin

One of the most common habits that we can fall into is smoking. It’s been well documented that smoking increases the chance of skin cancer (4.5 million Americans have been diagnosed with it every year and more than one-third of skin cancers are caused by cigarette smoking) and it’s also been linked to increased inflammation of the skin.

What does this all mean? Well, it’s particularly troubling to the skin. So if you’re reading this, then chances are that you’re either an ex-smoker or if you never smoked, you currently indulge in smoking a few times a day. You’re free now. Right?

But smoking causes harm to your skin, which is why, when I once had a dermatologist on a client, one thing she asked about was exercise.

where dermatologists almost always begin. Since exercise increases testosterone production, it can increase collagen production,

which helps keep you firm and gives you a youthful appearance—already we’re on a roll! And although smoking is a common activity for nearly everyone,

most people tend to get into the habit when they’re young and some will stay with it for a lifetime.

Exercise has undeniable benefits for your skin, but it can also dramatically improve your skin’s health. That’s where beauty trips are essential for your skin. Not only are you benefiting from a great workout that will help you get your heart rate up,

but you’re also helping your skin by removing inflammation and injecting collagen, which improves skin elasticity and elasticity.

Maintaining regular skincare routines is important, so you need to do all you can to protect your skin from any harmful effects. Here are some bad habits that are ruining your skin that you should be working to bust:

Drugstore Origins

One of the easiest and most unpleasant habits that affect our skin is the shopping habits that we get behind. They’re so bad, that they’re actually bad for your skin. That’s why it’s so essential to question why you’re buying all these ingredients that may or may not be good for your skin, especially when you can do it at home for less.

Here are a few unhealthy habits that need to go:

Big Purchase

As it turns out, everything you buy from big retailers is not actually going to help your skin, whether you buy something like Clarins products or something so different from the rest of the world’s look that it’s never the real deal.

Choosing Drugs

Another seemingly easy habit to do is to purchase drugs that may or may not be good for your skin. Stop doing this and instead, focus on a cup of cold-brewed tea every morning as it’s proven to reduce inflammation—that too much coffee gets you irritated. And don’t fill your stomach with things that you won’t use throughout the day—instead, try an organic smoothie or herbal tea you can drink in the morning.

Going to Physical Therapy

For many of us, the number one physical activity to do for your skin is to burn body fat—especially if you have any hypertonic and/or dehydrated skin. This physical activity helps your skin by "tearing" the thick bonds between skin cells and making them less prone to skin breakdown (seriously).

I’ve also been to a physical therapist. I don’t know what I did to my skin when I quit smoking! I hope that you’re self-aware enough to know when you’re doing something that’s the root of your skin problems.

It’s a bad habit that eventually only tends to get worse unless you immediately change the way you choose to live your life—not only are there many bad habits that can be harmful to your skin but there are several healthier ones that you can do to make you look good! And when you make more of these healthier choices, your skin will thank you.
